Crawley and its Heritage
Helen Poole
Helen Poole is the curator of Crawley Museum and talks about Crawley and its heritage. She looks at some of the long history of the three original villages, Crawley, Ifield and Worth and also the progress in the plans to move the current museum to The Tree in the centre of town.

Wakehurst from the the Romans to the

An exhibition of material from our archives.

 An Exhibition to Mark the 150th Anniversary of St John’s Church
 
The Society is mounting an exhibition on the history of the church to mark this historic event. This will be held in St. John’s Church.

Amber: A Window on Ancient Worlds
John Cooper
John Cooper talks about Amber and describes its use throughout history as a decorative semi precious stone. Please wear your Amber jewellery!

Outing to Ifield, Crawley
An outing to Ifield to see Ifield Mill and the Friends Meeting House and perhaps a peep into the cottage where Elizabeth Fry’s first visit to Ifield took place.

The History of Brighton’s Trams
Ian Gledhill

Ian Gledhill will talk about Brighton’s trams. Brighton had the largest tram system in Sussex, and was the last town in the world still to be building open topped trams in the 1930s, but by the outbreak of war they'd all gone. This is the story of the transport that once served Brighton (but not Hove!).

Slaugham Mill
Otto Somodi
Otto Somodi will talk about Slaugham Mill,
the history of a forgotten watermill in the heart of Sussex. He will also touch upon the Iron Industry which once thrived in the area.
